SDMC-Dr. Mona Jain Middle School
The School District of Manatee County Dr. Mona Jain Middle School was built in Lakewood Ranch adjacent to the existing B.D. Gullett Elementary School.
The 162,000 SF school was designed for 1,165 students and was constructed as a single building with a single entry point. Instead of being multiple, separate buildings, the different spaces of the building are treated as wings and all tied together with a Mall running down the middle of the school. The two-story classroom spaces have a balcony overlooking the mall and connecting the second floor of each wing. This is aesthetically pleasing as well as meeting the highest current standard in terms of safety and security and maximizes the administration’s control of the campus.
